Friday October 11 is a PD day and school will be closed and Monday, October 14, is Thanksgiving Day and DVMS will be closed. Have a great long weekend DVMS community. Feast and celebrate with family and friends in all of the fun and wonderful ways you do. From us to you, thank you for choosing an authentic Montessori education for your children.

It’s a Girl!

Congratulations to Stef and her husband Kyle. Stef gave birth to a healthy baby girl on October 2. Winifred Neve Noonan was born at 3:16am weighing in at 6lbs 5oz. Both mom and baby are doing well!

Elementary Activities

Cross-Country and Field Trips

  • On Tuesday, October 8th both Lower and Upper Elementary students who joined cross country and attended the practices will be travelling by school bus to Marydale Park to participate in the CYO Fall Cross country run. They will require a packed, litterless picnic lunch and a water bottle (hot lunch kids too); nothing that needs to be reheated please. Please ensure they have weather and running appropriate footwear and their DVMS t-shirt that day. Parents are welcome meet us at the park to cheer on our runners. We will be leaving DVMS at 9:30 and will return to DVMS for 1:30.

    Year One- 10:40/10:50. 1110 meters

    Year Two- 11:00/11:10. 1110 meters

    Year Three- 11:20/11:30. 1530 meters

    Year Four- 11:40/11:50. 1530 meters

    Year Five and Six- 12:00-12:10. 1980 meters

    Year Seven and Eight- 12:20/12:30. 2300 meters

Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary Activities

  • October 4th, 18th, 25th: Lower Elementary students will be walking to the newly completed Grightmire Arena for skating from 1-3pm and will require skates and a helmet. LES will be skating from 1 o’clock to 2 o’clock and LEN from 2 o’clock to 3 o’clock. Students will have the opportunity to practice a variety of drills and skills.

  • October 10th, 18th, 25th: Upper Elementary students will be participating in Parkour on Friday afternoons, led by Play Project. Please ensure they are wearing, or bring, weather appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear.

  • Thursday October 10: Lower Elementary students will be walking into their community. We will be leaving the school at 9:30am. The year threes will be visiting the library, the year twos will be visiting the museum and the year ones will be visiting the fire hall. After our visits will have a picnic lunch at the dog park. Please pack a litter less lunch and a water bottle. Students will be back for school 2:00pm. Please dress for the weather!

Information and Reminders

Parent Dinner is Tomorrow: “Thanksgiving Dinner with your Montessori Family”! Our annual Parent Dinner is tomorrow on Saturday October 5th. Social at 6 o’clock with dinner at 7 o’clock. Tickets can be purchased here!

Casa Parent Education: A Day in the Life of your Casa Student: Join us on October 17th at 5:30-7:00 to learn about your child’s day. A letter was sent home last week with an RSVP. Your Casa child is welcome to join us for pizza and a movie during the time you are engaged and all money raised will go towards this years delegation to Montessori United Nations in New York City.

Strata Montessori Friday Café: Every Friday morning, the fine folks at Strata Montessori Adolescent School host a wonderful café as part of their student micro-economy ventures. It is a lovely time in a beautiful place with great people.
